Avery Dixon

Avery is the interim program outreach coordinator for the Guardian Network and holds a bachelor of arts in psychology from Queen’s University, where her research focused on life stress and suicide risk. Raised in Caledon, Ontario, she comes from a multi-generational farm family, formerly in dairy and now cash crop. She is also a proud 4-H alumni, where she has built some of her favourite memories, spending time with her dad and learning about showmanship, animal care and the joys of life in agriculture. Blending her mental health expertise with her agricultural roots, Avery is dedicated to advancing suicide prevention, fostering connection and promoting wellness in farming communities.

“Growing up on the farm, I saw first-hand how gifted farmers are at building strong, supportive communities – yet I often saw how mental health challenges were met with silence or self-reliance. I am dedicated to supporting the ag community in my mental health career not only because it’s in my roots, but because I know that farmers deserve a community free of stigma, with supports that reflect their unique livelihoods and strengths.”
